I would like to begin by acknowledging and welcoming your interest in Glastry College. Glastry is a college of family and community. For many years we have sought to meet the needs of pupils from the peninsula irrespective of background or academic ability. Many of our present pupils are sons and daughters and sometimes grandsons and granddaughters of former pupils.

Over the years Glastry College has been recognised as a centre of excellence with an enviable reputation. As was noted in the most recent Department of Education report:

“the high regard of the Governors and Parents for the college is well founded.”

We have committed ourselves to offer the best possible educational experience and opportunities to all of our pupils in order that they may attain their potential. We believe that success results from security and encouragement and we pride ourselves on the caring and friendly atmosphere of the College.

We believe that a good education is much more than academic attainment. Success in public examinations is important and the college is proud of its record in this area, annually our results are well above the provinces average for nonselective schools. However we regard the development of the pupil as a whole person as vital. Each pupil is encouraged to strive for high standards and to develop the social and personal skills so essential for adult life in this fast-changing technological age.

We are confident that if you choose to enter into partnership with us in the education of your child during these formative years, the outcome will be a mature and balanced young person with the education and personal confidence to take his or her place in the world of tomorrow.
